Famous for its Bani Thani paintings that reflect exalted achievements of the Kishangarh School of Art that flourished under the patronage of local rulers - Kishangarh in Rajasthan is a tranquil desert hamlet.
It is believed that the Kishangarh School of Art developed under the patronage of Raja Savant Singh who with his consort, Bani Thani posed for court painters who etched court scenes, animals, birds and traditional motifs with delicate skill and finesse.
Several Kishangarh paintings reflect the recurring theme of Krishna leela and Radha. These paintings have characteristic features such as sharp figures, delicate lines and skillful usage of bright colors.
