An architecture firm from London, Lancaster and Lodge was commissioned to design and construct this regal home.

This lovely mansion displays a unique blend of art deco building style with colonial building ethos. The entire façade though comes across as a traditional medieval Rajasthan fort. The erstwhile home of Maharaja Umaid Singhji, the Umaid Bhawan Palace is a royal fantasy in pink sandstone and white marble flanked by immaculately laid green lawns.

In all there are 347 rooms at the Umaid Bhawan Palace of which only 98 have been opened for functioning as heritage hotel rooms. Also known as 'Chittar ka Mahal' this spectacular heritage mansion also served as a base for allied troops during World War II.
