Spread on Brahmaputra River banks, the Kaziranga National Park in Assam was a reserve forest that became a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1974. Tall elephant grass, swamps, rivers and thick forests form the ideal habitat for the one-horned Rhino apart from several rare wild animal species.

Birds in Kaziranga
Among the birds, there are the Oriental Honey Buzzard, Black-Shouldered Kite, Black-Kite, Brahminy Kite, Pallas's Fishing Eagle, White Tailed Eagle, Grey-Headed Fishing Eagle, Himalayan Griffon, and a number of migratory birds, which visit the park during winters.
Karbi Anglong tea plantations are a great favorite with tourists traveling to Kaziranga.

The nearest airport is Guwahati, 217 km away from the park. The other airport is located at Jorhat, 97 km from Kaziranga.
The nearest railway station is 75 km away from Kaziranga National Park.
By road, the Kaziranga Wildlife Sanctuary, is easily accessible from Guwahati and Tezpur in Assam, India.
